Gone Country

take a deep breath and enjoy the ride...

Something about getting in the car and driving on the open road brings back the Texas in me. Singing with Brad Paisley at the top of my lungs with the windows down... Passing the fruit stands, cracking sunflower seeds, and looking over Miss Piggy (my dog) riding shotgun with her entire torso out the window as I pass Merle Haggard Drive... Hundreds of miles go by, my tires touching countless little towns...

Once we arrived at the Cline Residence/Horse Farm, I was in heaven. Bare feet, hay stacks, green grass, lemonade, watermelon, and a room full of saddles promising an evening ride through the citrus groves under a pink sky... By the way, climbing a tree to pick pomelos in a skirt makes you feel like you're twelve again. Seriously? That's a good day.

I find lessons everywhere I go, but this weekend, I was reminded of patience in so many ways. Someone special said to me, "All in God's perfect time, just put it there and watch for a blessing". I slowed down, took a break from my worries and anxious thoughts which constantly overcome me. Maybe all I needed was a little country to bring me back to my roots, and realize that life can be slow and beautiful. The divine is within all of us, and all we have to do is sit back, be patient and let it shine. If we're patient, we will not be in such a hurry to speed things up. Why hurry? Life is fast when we hurry. I'm not sure about ya'll, but I don't want it to go fast. So get on a horse, take a deep breath, and enjoy the ride.
